Ze verwerkte ontelbare krantenartikelen in het portret, zoals de originele krantenartikelen van geboortedag, de Telegraaf van zijn sterfdag en talloze andere artikelen die een weergave zijn van zijn werk als misdaadverslaggever, schrijver en vertrouwenspersoon van slachtoffers.
Omdat Peter R. vanuit zijn onderzoeksjournalistiek functioneerde als waakhond over politie en justitie, is zijn gezicht opgebouwd uit pagina’s van het Wetboek van Strafrecht. Zijn rechtvaardigheidsgevoel was zijn sterkste drijfveer.
Als laatste verwerkte Jacqueline vele van de duizenden hartverwarmende reacties van betrokken burgers, die waren neergelegd bij de bloemenzee in de Lange Leidsedwarsstraat en bij Carré, waar zijn afscheid plaatsvond.
After the death of Peter R. de Vries, his ex-wife Jacqueline felt the need to immortalize him in a painting. In a process of five months, she realized a larger than life portrait in which she managed to capture the entire legacy of Peter R. as a human being.
She incorporated countless newspaper articles into the portrait, such as the original newspaper articles from the day of his birth (November 14, 1956), the Telegraaf from the day of his death (July 15, 2021) and countless other articles reflecting his work as a crime reporter, writer and victim confidant.
Because Peter R. functioned as a watchdog over the police and justice system through his investigative journalism, his face is made up of pages from the Criminal Law. His sense of justice was his strongest motivation.
Finally, Jacqueline processed many of the thousands of heartwarming reactions from concerned citizens, which were placed at the sea of flowers in the Lange Leidsedwarsstraat and at Carré, where his farewell took place.
