A large part of the letters from the Brienne chest were never opened. As part of an international research effort named Signed, Sealed & Undelivered , a London dentist took X-rays of the unopened letters. This has provided us with a glimpse into the daily life and emotions of people in the 17th century, without breaking the seal.
